Description
This is being relisted because the buyer made a mistake and asked to cancel the sale. So, its back up for sale.
Up for auction and fresh to the market comes this Charming & Unique 19th century Brass Figural Rare Needle case. It's in the shape of an easel with a floral painting. The back leg is hinged and opens so it can stand upright. The Painting part is hinged and opens up to reveal compartments to hold the needle packets. The back side of the picture has the English registry mark for July 19th, 1875. And it's also stamped W. Avery & Son- Redditch (see photo). The details are beautifully embossed all around.
It stands approx. 4-1/4" tall when standing, and 2-1/4" wide across the base. It's in excellent condition with no damage. The backside shows more old tarnish from over the many years as the past owner was not in the habit of cleaning or polishing the backside. This piece is illustrated on parge 68 of Victorian Brass Needle cases by Estelle Horowitz & Ruth Mann. Great hard to find piece!
There's actually another one for sale on ebay (see last photo) but my price is more realistic! And another one just sold in Aug (see last photo).
