Antique Hand Made Bristol Board Needle Book
English * Circa 1870
The amount of work in this little needle book is amazing. It was made by a girl or lady in the mid*Victorian era and is all handmade. Perforated card paper has been carefully cut and layered and then embroidered all around. The spine is held together with wide silk ribbon and decorated with a bow. The front is embroidered with the maker's or recipient's initials, J H.
Inside, there are four finely woven wool flannel pages to hold the needles. It measures 2 3/8" x 3" closed and is 100% original. The condition is excellent inside and out with no tears or damage. The Bristol board is very fine, 24 holes to the inch, indicating an early piece.
