    Description

Antique Sterling Silver Sewing Egg/ Bobbins & Needlecase
    Canton * Circa 1870
This antique silver egg was made in Canton, China for the English export trade. Chinese design was very much in vogue in England but this type of sewing piece wasn't a style the Chinese would use. It is solid sterling silver (tested) and inside are a built-in needle case overlaid with bobbins wrapped with silk floss. The egg was cast and then chased with a fierce five clawed dragon twisting around the sides.
The condition is excellent with no dents or damage to the silver.
    It
measures 2 1/4" long and almost 1 1/4" in diameter. It snaps closed and stays closed though the closed top lifts a bit. The top has a ring so it could be attached to a chain or chatelaine and it weighs a very solid 29.5 grams.
I stand behind everything that I offer and
    guarantee
that it is exactly as presented.
