OLD SEWING ETUI
Lovely antique hand carved sewing etui measuring about 2" in size. Made of Coquilla nut, it is a charming figural acorn, designed to open, serving as a pin/needle holder or thimble case. Color is warm and rich, carving is very nicely done - love the detailed acorn cap and the additional leaf decoration around the sides. There may have been a tip on the acorn cap at one time - hard to tell - there is a flaw in the cap side - this is from the natural material used - not damage - the maker simply carved around the small hole - does not detract a bit. Just a wonderful antique sewing etui - lovely addition to any collection or display!
